Day 1: UK – Colombo

Check into overnight flight to Colombo from London Airport.

Day 2: Colombo city tour

Arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport. Transfer to your colonial hotel in Colombo. In the afternoon embark on a city tour of Colombo, which includes Fort, Pettah, the Gangarama temple, a Museum and the Town Hall.

Day 3: Aukana-Mihintale-Anuradhapura

After breakfast, leave for Anuradhapura (a World Heritage Site), the first capital and undoubtedly the grandest city of the ancient Sri Lanka. You visit Brazen Palace - 1600 stone columns, the remains of a magnificent multi-storied residence for monks. Ruwanweliseya - famous for all the Dagobas and Isurumuniya rock temple and also known for its rock carvings. On enroute you stop at Aukana to see the tallest Buddha Statue of Sri Lanka. Visit Mihintale, The Cradle of Buddha the town where Buddhism first overwhelmed the people of Sri Lanka. Overnight in Dambulla

Day 4: Polonnaruwa-Habarana-Sigiriya

After breakfast, leave for Polonnaruwa. You visit the ruins of the Royal Palace, Gal Viharaya where the splendid statues of the Buddha and of king Parakumbahu. Here are also monuments of famous places of worship such as the Shiva Temple, Lankathilake, Watadage, Galpotha, Kiri Vehera and the remains of a former Temple of the Tooth Relic. At Habarana make an optional safari on an elephant to the jungle. Evening proceed climb 5th century Sigiriya Rock Fortress which is a world heritage site, known as The 'Lion Rock'.

Visit the world renowned frescos of the 'Heavenly Maidens' of Sigiriya. (You have to walk up about more than 200 steps to see the frescos. All natural steps are safe to walk). Overnight in Dambulla.

Day 5: Dambulla-Matale-Kandy

Today visit Dambulla rock temple - world heritage site, and the most impressive of Sri Lanka's cave temples - caves with over 2000 sq. meters of painted walls and ceilings containing 150 images of the Buddha. You head towards Kandy. En route stop at Matale to see a Hindu temple, visit a Sri Lankan School, a batik factory and a spice garden to see different spices, and how some of these spices are grown and processed. Later in the evening, you visit to the temple of tooth, followed by experience a show of cultural Performers. Overnight in Kandy.

Day 6: Kandy-Pinnawela-Kandy

After breakfast, proceed to Elephant Orphanage in Pinnawela, established in 1975, commenced with seven orphans. Now its home for over 65 elephants and babies. Afternoon, you visit Embekka, wood carving temple & Gadaladeniya, stone carving temple. Later visit Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya. Evening enjoy the city tour of Kandy. Visits to Gem Museum, Upper Lake, Arts & Crafts Centre, and explore the Kandy bazaar on your own. Overnight in Kandy.

Day 7: Kandy-Nanuoya-Nuwara Eliya

After breakfast, leave for Nuwara Eliya, known as "Little England". Embark on a journey by train between Kandy and Nanu-oya. Visit the tea plantation and a tea factory where the best tea in the world is being produced. Observe the process of manufacturing tea, tea grading and taste a cup of pure Ceylon tea. Overnight in Nuwara Eliya.

Day 8: St Clair

After breakfast, travel through a beautiful landscape & see the widest waterfall of Sri Lanka, "St. Clair". Drive through Kithulgala where the Oscar Winning movie "Bridge on the River Kwai" was filmed. Transfer to airport for return flight home.
